ACL ligament surgery in Jaipur
Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan. This city has witnessed tremendous growth in the health sector in recent years. Today, Jaipur is catering not only to patients from the Rajasthan but also to many needy patients from neighboring states relying on doctors of Jaipur when it comes to the questioning of health. Many surgeons in Jaipur are doing ACL ligament surgery but only a few are trained in tackling multi ligamentous knee injury. It is a grave injury where more than one ligament of your knee joint is torn. It becomes more challenging when knee cartilage is also injured along with knee ligaments.

These cases require staged surgeries often two or more. Fresh cartilage injury remains the foremost concern and should be addressed with utmost care on an urgent basis. Four main ligaments of the knee joint are ACL, PCL MCL, and LCL. When two or more ligaments are torn they can be managed by arthroscopic and open surgery in one or two stages depending upon the type of ligaments torn. The ACL ligament is torn in most of such cases along with other ligaments. PCL and MCL are treated in stage one and ACL are often tackled later.
If performed by an experienced surgeon, ACL, and other ligament surgery has a very good success rate. We asked Dr. Jitesh to share some of his difficult cases of ligament surgery.

I remember when he was brought to me by his father, he was not even able to stand without pain. His 3 knee ligaments (ACL, LCL and PCL) were torn and knee cartilage was also damaged. The young boy underwent two surgeries, in the first surgery LCL and cartilage repair were done. In the second stage ACL reconstruction was done by arthroscopic surgery. PCL was partially torn and often respond well to conservative treatment so left without surgery. Rehabilitation exercises are as important as surgery in such challenging cases. The young guy was put on an aggressive rehabilitation program specially designed by Dr. Jitesh. Today after 9 months of the surgery he has returned to his routine life again.

He was a victim of a road accident. When he was brought to me he was reluctant to surgery as the X ray showed no injury. “This is the difficult situation to make the patient understand about the gravity of injury when X ray speaks nothing” said Dr. Jitesh.
On examination I suspected tear of all of his four main ligaments of the knee. In other words it was a case of “knee dislocation”. MRI confirmed my diagnosis. This boy underwent staged surgeries where MCL was repaired and external fixator was applied in first stage. PCL and LCL were repaired in second stage and ACL was reconstructed in the last by arthroscopic surgery. 9 months after a dedicated rehabilitation program patient is happily managing his shop again.

He was also a victim of road accident and referred to me after initial treatment. His MRI showed tears of ACL, MCL along with cartilage injury. In a staged procedure cartilage injury was grafted and MCL reconstruction was done. Patient was put on a rehabilitation program designed by Dr. Jitesh. ACL was reconstructed by arthroscopic surgery after 6 weeks. After a dedicated rehabilitation of 6 months patient has got back to his routine life again.
